For the 2012 SfAA’s, I will present an individual paper on the student panel, Activism Beyond the Classroom: Student Reflections on Activist Work, as part of an initiative headed by the SfAA Human Rights and Social Justice Committee.
For the 2011 American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting, I chaired and helped organize a double panel entitled, Redefining Insurance, Redefining Governance: U.S. Health Insurance Reform in Global Perspective, with Sarah Horton and Julie Armin.
At the 2011 American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting, I presented an individual paper entitled ‘Racialization of Illness: Clinician Perspectives on the Role of Race and Ethnicity in Health Disparities’. This research was drawn from a larger NIH funded project, ‘Clinicians’ Concepts of Racial/Ethnic Differences in the Management Of Chronic Illness’, headed by Linda M. Hunt, Professor of Anthropology, Michigan State University.
